You want to download Swiss government data free of charge? You want to develop an application with these data? Go to opendata.swiss, the portal for Swiss open government data.
opendata.swiss is the Swiss authorities’ portal for open – i.e. freely available – data. It is part of the Federal Council’s Open Government Data Strategy.
Here, the Confederation, cantons and communes as well as other organisations with a mandate from the state publish their open data. The portal brings together a wide range of datasets such as population statistics, weather data, historical documents and health insurance premiums. All the datasets can be downloaded free of charge and exploited.
Among the offices involved are MeteoSwiss, Swisstopo, the Federal Statistical Office, the Federal Archives, the Canton of Zurich and the Canton of Geneva. In February 2017, there were nearly 200 datasets each to agriculture and to education and science, nearly a hundert datasets to finances, almost 1’000 datasets to geography, 300 datasets to transport and many more.
